INVITE KARIDA to your Organization

The last thing you want to do is try to navigate the “minefield” of race in the dark.

Too many well-meaning people continue to make avoidable, frustrating missteps with this issue because they don’t have the knowledge and insights that only historical context can give.

But consider this: Would a doctor be able to give you the best possible diagnosis and prescribe the best possible treatment without considering your medical history? No way.

So why overlook history when it comes to the topic of race?

There are many organizations that are trying to grapple with questions about equity and inclusivity, systemic racism, privilege, etc. WITHOUT a shared understanding of history by all stakeholders. That means that any assessment of the current situation and/or choices about future actions will likely miss the mark.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Hi, I'm Karida Griffith Walker

I offer presentations and training that illuminate the historical context of race, so that your organization can approach this vital and challenging issue with clarity, strategy and confidence.

While I’m a firm advocate for organizations doing their own heavy lifting, the presentations that I offer can support that work by bringing an outside perspective that helps your team to make the key shifts necessary to arrive at common understanding, and move forward with more clarity and unity.

In my presentations, I utilize my experience as a Stern School of Business graduate (NYU), my professional dance career (Rockettes, Cirque du Soleil, etc) and the mentorship I’ve received from Dr. Joy Angela DeGruy and others to give you high-level, but accessible insights that your organization can utilize in both high-level and tangible ways.

  • "Karida's presentation of 'Race & the Dance World' for a group of Oregon dance educators was informative and eye opening, and we appreciate that she took time to acknowledge Oregon's specific part in the history of racism. In her workshop, Karida provided modern day examples that related to her content and were helpful in allowing for self reflection from the attendees. Karida also made sure she thoroughly answered all the questions attendees raised. She was incredibly generous with her time and knowledge."
